POSITION AND PURPOSE


 

The Business Unit Strategic Partner is a central role in the Business Unit strategic planning and performance management process in alignment with the Credit Union's overarching Strategic Plan. This individual will facilitate strategic planning sessions with assigned Business Units to develop, document, and continually evolve strategies and tactics that are critical to the achievement of key outcomes. Additionally, this individual will play a critical role in ensuring that strategic priorities are aligned, identifying connections, weaknesses, and opportunities to deliver the best outcomes for the Credit Union. They will act as an integrated partner in delivering on efforts to execute on complex projects and programs. This individual must have a strong working knowledge of all functional areas of the Credit Union, with expertise in the assigned Business Units. This role requires proactive identification and communication of relevant information with an ability to offer feasible, competitive, and innovative solutions that enable strong Business Unit performance in alignment with the Credit Union's overarching Strategic Plan.

You build trusted relationships across the organization, facilitate alignment around key priorities, and drive cross-functional initiatives that support the Credit Union's strategic goals. THE WORK


 

Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, functional teams, and vendors to successfully execute complex strategies.

 

Be a trusted partner, partnering on the planning and delivery of impactful efforts.

 

Facilitate project intake process for cross-functional project request, documenting request and organizational impact.

 

Drive cross-functional collaboration to optimize business outcomes by effectively ensuring timely decisions and prioritization.

 

Facilitate strategic planning sessions with assigned Business Units to align with the Credit Union’s overarching Strategic Plan.

 

Support the strategic planning process, including partnering with assigned Business Units to develop materials necessary to facilitate management and Board strategic planning activities (Board Educational Session, Board and/or Management Strategic Planning Session, etc.).

 

Assist with the development of the three-year Corporate Strategic Plan as needed.

 

Support aligned performance management framework that effectively captures Business Unit priorities and performance relative to strategic goals, objectives, measurements, KPIs, and focus areas. Monitor performance and collaborate with Business Units to address under-performance.

 

Responsible for supporting corporate development activities as necessary, including competitive analysis related to products, services, and positioning within key markets.

 

Proactively identify opportunities to leverage the Credit Union’s competitive advantage to drive growth and build financial strength and security.

 

Conduct research and communicate findings to inform strategic business decisions.

 

Partners on execution of complex projects and programs, ensuring alignment with Business Unit and Corporate Strategic Plans.

 

Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to Credit Union compliance.

 

Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.


QUALIFICATIONS


 


EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience required


EXPERIENCE:

7+ years progressive experience with strategic planning, business development, product development, and/or program management within the financial services industry required

Proven success in developing and implementing complex processes and programs. required

A strong understanding of how a financial institution operates. required


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Strong presence and strategic judgment.

Excellent communication, team facilitation, and presentation skills for an executive level audience

Experienced in strategic storytelling and providing strategic progress reporting at an executive and board level.

Proven ability to provide strategic recommendations based on insights, aligning planning, and forecasting into actionable strategy to drive results.

Experience in preparing Board level reporting.

Ability to present ideas and concepts and work persuasively with colleagues.

Experienced and skilled in facilitating difficult conversations.

Cultivate an inclusive team environment that encourages knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Highly analytical and skilled in problem-solving.

Strong organizational and planning skills.

Knowledgeable about the principles of finance, lending theory, industry practice, and Golden 1’s policies.

General and business knowledge equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.


LICENSES AND CERITIFCATIONS:

Possession of a valid California driver’s license is desirable but not essential. preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS


 

Work time includes weekend and after-hours time, based on organizational needs. This position works in-office where working conditions, lighting, temperature, audio, and workspace are all sufficient.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


 

Work requires the ability to constantly operate a computer and the ability to read, type, and communicate. Work may require the ability to move work-related supplies weighing up to 10-15 pounds.
