POSITION AND PURPOSE


 

The Vice President (VP) is a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for driving strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and cross-functional collaboration. This role provides visionary leadership, ensures alignment with organizational goals, and fosters a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The Vice President Treasurer/Investment Officer plans, directs, and controls the organization's overall investment, liquidity, and treasury plans, policies, and functions including relationships with brokers, regulatory bodies, legal counsel, the financial community, and external auditors. Is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of investment policies and strategic objectives. Directs the activities associated with the security and investment of the Credit Union's assets and funds and ensures that financial transactions, policies, and procedures meet the Credit Union's short and long-term goals and objectives, regulatory body requirements, and safe and sound business practices. Supervises the Credit Union's bank accounts, borrowings, leverage trades, investment, and safekeeping functions. Monitors the economy, analyzing the effect on cash flow, borrowings, and investments to ensure successful management of the balance sheet in consideration of safety, liquidity, and yield.

The Vice President Treasurer/Investment Officer develops and recommends loan and deposit product pricing strategies to ALCO.

You are a strategic and results-driven financial executive with expertise in treasury management, investments, balance sheet optimization, and enterprise analytics. You lead with a data-driven, collaborative approach, aligning liquidity, investment, and pricing strategies to support long-term organizational growth while maintaining safety, soundness, and regulatory compliance.

 


THE WORK


 

Develop dynamic methodologies for identification and performance monitoring of primary drivers impacting operational performance.

 

Develop dynamic methodologies and produce executive-level reports to determine financial performance across markets, products, channels, and member demographics.

 

Actively own key Treasurer/Investment Officer and business processes including but not limited to enterprise-wide analytics.

 

Provide high level and innovative thought leadership to drive improvement; recommend areas for improvement and lead projects to enhance the reporting and analytical infrastructure.

 

Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.

 

Foster a positive and engaging work environment for each team member by promoting skill development, coaching for improvement and growth, inspiring others through your words and actions, ensuring positive employee morale throughout Golden 1, and embracing our mission, vision, and core values.

 

Lead and mentor the Treasurer/Investment Officer team, conduct informal and formal performance and compensation reviews, set goals, set priorities, and ensure appropriate training and development efforts are in place.

 

Oversee and coordinate the assessment of Market, Product, Member, and Channel performance to identify gaps and additional value areas to maximize performance.

 

Prepare analysis, commentary, and presentation of performance trends and forecasts.

 

Conduct internal and external benchmarking to support metrics-based decisions.

 

Exhibit flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments as they are identified by the CFO and to assist with various ad hoc projects as needed.

 

Monitor and oversee daily cash position and primary liquidity levels of the Golden 1 Credit Union.

 

Review, evaluate, and oversee adequacy of borrowing lines and other forms of contingent liquidity.

 

Monitor market and industry trends as it relates to local, national, and global economic conditions.

 

Evaluate, recommend, and facilitate execution of investment strategies to optimize portfolio composition and yield.

 

Oversee development of the annual Strategic Investment Plan and conduct quarterly reviews to be presented to ALCO.

 

Evaluate and recommend hedging or derivative strategies when appropriate.

 

Monitors competitive market and makes loan and deposit pricing recommendations to ALCO ensuring Golden 1 product pricing aligns with strategy. Partners with key business lines across the organization to provide thought leadership, detailed financial analysis, and strategic recommendations in the areas of product pricing and profitability for existing and new loan and deposit products.

 

Oversees the secondary market team to ensure appropriate loan sale strategies are in place to manage IRR as well as credit risk.

 

Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.

Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute short and long-term strategies aligned with the company’s mission, vision, and growth objectives. Serve as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including board members, partners, and clients.

 

 

Operational Oversight: Lead and manage departmental operations, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and performance. Monitor KPIs and implement data-driven improvements across functions.

 

 

Risk & Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards. Identify and mitigate strategic and operational risks.

 

 

Industry Trends: Stay informed on trends, laws, and practices, and represent Golden 1 at industry-related events.

 


QUALIFICATIONS


 


EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required

Master’s Degree in Business Administration preferred


EXPERIENCE:

5+ years of progressively responsible top management experience in auditing, accounting, or controller duties, preferably with a financial institution required


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Accounting and financial management skills.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of credit union industry and practice, data processing, accounting principles and auditing standards, and business administration.

Skill to be a change leader who fosters agility, accountability, and results through inclusive leadership.

Proven track record of leading teams and aligning culture and engagement strategies to achieve business objectives.

Understanding of strategic planning processes and the ability to contribute to and implement strategic initiatives.

Knowledge of how to manage organizational change and help teams adapt to new strategies and processes.

Strong interpersonal communications, presentation, and coaching skills with the ability to engage and influence senior leadership and employees at all levels.

Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with diverse audiences, including senior management, team members, and external stakeholders.

Ability to translate complex business goals into actionable initiatives.

Ability to make data-driven decisions and use metrics to shape culture, business, and engagement strategies.

Familiarity with technology and systems to optimize workflow efficiency.

Ability to manage credit union resources and foster bottom line accountability.

Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as Golden 1 policies and guidelines.


LICENSES AND CERITIFCATIONS:

Certified Public Accountant preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS


 

Work time includes weekend and after-hours time, based on organizational needs. This position works in-office where working conditions, lighting, temperature, audio, and workspace are all sufficient.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


 

Work requires the ability to constantly operate a computer and the ability to read, type, and communicate. Work may require the ability to move work-related supplies weighing up to 10-15 pounds.
