POSITION AND PURPOSE


 

Performs various finance and analytical functions for Golden 1 Credit Union, including but not limited to financial reporting, financial analyses, and maintaining financial systems/models. Employees in this area are cross-trained in several aspects of finance and analytical functions and will assist the Finance Management team in special projects.

You are a detail-oriented and analytical finance professional with strong financial reporting, modeling, and data analysis skills.

You excel at translating complex financial data into meaningful insights that support strategic decision-making, business growth, and profitability. With expertise in financial systems, forecasting, reporting, and process improvement, you partner effectively across the organization to deliver accurate analysis, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement.


THE WORK


 

Support strategic financial initiatives to aid in the achievement of multi-year ongoing financial objectives to support the financial position, growth, and profitability of the Credit Union, through effective long-term capital management.

 

Assist in the routine preparation of financial reports for the Credit Union including, but not limited to, information for management reports analyzing financial performance by channels, markets, and peers.

 

Analyze the monthly financial statements and reports, and communicate variances and relevant findings in support of the financial plan.

 

Maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger accounts, components of the balance sheet, income statement, key ratios, products, and other pertinent financial data.

 

Using PowerBI and/or Excel, aggregate multiple data sources into a single story to summarize the results of a review into actionable points for Senior Management to support business decision-making.

 

Assist with requirement gathering using interviews, document analysis, use cases, scenarios, and workflow analysis.

 

Learn and gain an understanding of lending/deposit rates, policies and procedures impacting responsibilities.

 

Update procedures in response to changes in operational activities or technological upgrades.

 

Perform reviews or validations of other Financial Analyst work prior to, or in lieu of, review by Team Leadership.

 

Ensure compliance with applicable standards, rules, regulations, and systems of internal control.

 

Conduct ad hoc market research, special studies, reviews, analyses, and all other duties as assigned.

 

Update and maintain financial models including, but not limited to profitability and pricing models through scenario and breakeven point analyses.

 

Analyze financial results and synthesize through written reports or dashboards, with clean and concise visual charting.

 

Prepare or create ad hoc financial models, analyses, spreadsheets, visualizations, and presentations that effectively present data and analytical findings for management as reference for strategic decisions, committee review, and other information requests.

 

Continue to expand on an understanding of lending/deposit rates, policies and procedures impacting responsibilities.

 

Perform reviews or validations of Financial Analyst I work prior to, or in lieu of, review by Team Leadership.

 

Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.

 

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS


 


EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in area of specialty (Accounting, Mathematics, Business Administration, Information Technology or similarly quantitative/analytical degrees). Equivalent work experience with required knowledge/skills may be substituted for other degree types required


EXPERIENCE:

1+ years of progressive finance or relevant accounting experience required

1+ years of Analytical Experience required


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Functional:

* Functional Knowledge in the following: Federal Rules and Regulations as applied to credit unions; Golden 1 Products; Golden 1 Employee Handbook.

Intermediate knowledge in the following areas: Relevant Corporate Finance concepts; U.S. GAAP and General Ledger Accounting concepts; Golden 1 Policies and Procedures; Lending concepts; Retail Branch Banking; Compliance Reporting.

Technical:

* Intermediate-to-expert knowledge in the following systems/applications (required): Microsoft Excel- Formulas, functions, and pivot tables, dashboard creation, Power Query, data connections, and basic macros; Microsoft Power Point; Microsoft Word; Microsoft Outlook- Email, Calendar, Task; Microsoft Teams; PDF Creation/Editing (Nitro Pro).

Intermediate knowledge in the following systems/applications (preferred): Microsoft Power BI - Building Visuals using existing Datasets, and understanding of Power BI Desktop; SQL Programming - Select Statements, Joins, Aggregating Data, and Querying; DataSafe.

Basic knowledge in the following systems/applications (preferred): SAS Enterprise Guide - Use of tools to import and manipulate datasets; VBA Coding to support automation of tasks; Bloomberg Terminal; Syntellis Axiom EPM.

LICENSES AND CERITIFCATIONS:

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) preferred

Certified Corporate FP&A Analyst (FPAC) preferred

Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) preferred

other relevant advanced degree preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS


 

Work time includes weekend and after-hours time, based on organizational needs. This position works in-office where working conditions, lighting, temperature, audio, and workspace are all sufficient.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


 

Work requires the ability to constantly operate a computer and the ability to read, type, and communicate. Work may require the ability to move work-related supplies weighing up to 10-15 pounds.
