POSITION AND PURPOSE


 

The Senior Technical Product Owner is responsible for leading the strategic planning and execution of multiple major products, capabilities, services, or enhancements in accordance with the product roadmap. This role involves working with Program Managers, Business Leaders, and multiple cross-functional Scrum teams to deliver enterprise-wide software solutions and services. The Senior TPO manages the overall effort to deliver products, capabilities, services, and enhancements using the strategic vision and established key performance indicators. Additionally, the Senior TPO will drive innovation, strategic initiatives, and mentor Technical Product Owner I and Technical Product Owner II, fostering their professional growth and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

You are a trusted advisor to senior business and technology leaders and are known for your ability to align diverse stakeholders around a shared product vision.

 

You are a senior product leader with deep experience owning and delivering complex, enterprise-scale products and platforms. You think strategically across systems, products, and services, connecting business strategy, customer outcomes, and technical execution. You are a mentor and leader, actively developing other Product Owners and shaping how product management is practiced across the organization. You model strong ownership, accountability, and customer advocacy, and you set the standard for excellence in product leadership.

 

You bring strong technical fluency, enabling you to guide discussions on architecture, technical risk, and platform evolution without directing implementation. You focus on optimizing value at scale, improving product practices, and raising the overall maturity of product ownership across teams.

 

 


THE WORK


 

•

Strategic Leadership: Lead the strategic planning and execution of major product initiatives. Drive innovation and strategic initiatives to enhance product offerings.

 

•

Advanced Thought Leadership: Provide advanced thought leadership, anticipate and address complex business challenges. Conduct high-level vision/validate sessions with senior business stakeholders.

 

•

Complex Business Needs: Translate complex business needs into technical requirements and strategic solutions. Partner with senior business stakeholders to recommend advanced technology solutions.

 

•

Major Product Backlog Management: Oversee the prioritization and management of multiple major product backlogs. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and strategic vision.

 

•

Mentorship and Development: Mentor and guide Technical Product Owner I and Technical Product Owner II. Foster professional growth and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

 

•

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead cross-functional teams in driving user experience design and journey discussions. Track progress towards the release of major products.

 

•

Performance Tracking and Improvement: Develop and utilize advanced personas to track performance and inform product design. Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance product development.

 

•

Customer Advocacy and Solutions: Advocate for customer needs and identify innovative solutions. Establish success criteria and measurable results for customer satisfaction.

 

•

Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge: Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance, including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws.

 

•

Additional Responsibilities: Handle other duties as may be assigned, with a focus on strategic initiatives and leadership.

 

•

Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.


QUALIFICATIONS


 


EDUCATION:

•

Bachelor’s Degree preferably in a Management Information Systems, Information Management, Information Technology/Computer Sciences field or related work experience required


EXPERIENCE:

•

7+ years experience in product management, digital transformation, solution design, and business planning required

•

7+ years experience in operations, engineering, agile methodologies, or solution development required


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

•

Demonstrated experience in new product development preferred. Familiarity with global business practices affecting the supply chain. Experience with, or ability to understand, commercial implications of solutions proposed, potential areas of risk and methods to limit liability. Experienced in financial business case analysis to help support targeted return on investment. Demonstrated success in assessing, developing, and deploying new offerings or incremental enhancements preferred. Advanced knowledge of Agile principles and process. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Successful track record of developing products within deadlines. Excellent attention to detail. Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills. Creative and innovative thinker.

INTERNAL:

All levels of staff and management.

EXTERNAL:

Members, vendors, suppliers, volunteers, external auditors, professional and community organizations.


WORKING CONDITIONS


 

Work time includes weekend and after-hours time, based on organizational needs. This position works in-office where working conditions, lighting, temperature, audio, and workspace are all sufficient.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


 

Work requires the ability to constantly operate a computer and the ability to read, type, and communicate. Work may require the ability to move work-related supplies weighing up to 10-15 pounds.
