POSITION AND PURPOSE
| The Conversational AI Engineer is responsible for configuring, managing, and optimizing conversational AI solutions using modern AI frameworks. This role focuses on conversational design, prompt engineering, tool orchestration, integrations, governance, testing, and operational support to deliver scalable, compliant, and user-friendly AI experiences. Working closely with business and technology stakeholders, this position designs, implements, and supports conversational AI solutions that gather information, validate inputs, and execute actions through backend systems. |

• | Configure and maintain conversational AI solutions using conversational AI platforms, AI agents, tools, and orchestration frameworks | • | Gather, document, and translate business and member-service requirements into conversational AI configurations, workflows, and user experiences | • | Design conversation flows, prompts, tool configurations, knowledge sources, and escalation workflows | • | Configure integrations with enterprise systems using APIs and service endpoints | • | Utilize JavaScript to support validation, business rules, workflow orchestration, and integrations | • | Perform testing, validation, troubleshooting, and ongoing platform support | • | Coordinate and support user acceptance testing (UAT) activities with business stakeholders | • | Monitor performance, analyze conversational data, and optimize prompts, workflows, and user experiences | • | Manage knowledge sources, content, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) configurations | • | Apply governance, security, privacy, accessibility, and compliance standards | • | Create and maintain documentation, change records, and operational procedures | • | Support deployment, release management, and change control processes for conversational AI solutions | • | Support ongoing production operations, issue resolution, and platform maintenance activities | • | Collaborate with business, product, operations, technology teams, and vendors to implement and support conversational AI solutions | • | Communicate project status, risks, issues, and recommendations to stakeholders | • | Support continuous improvement initiatives and platform enhancements |
• | Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities, establish, and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite, and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations. |
EDUCATION: | • | Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required | | | |
EXPERIENCE: | • | 3+ years years of experience in conversational AI, platform administration, business systems analysis, or a related field required | • | 3+ years of experience working with conversational AI platforms required | • | 3+ years of hands-on JavaScript experience. Experience with large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, APIs, and system integrations required | | | |
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: | • | Conversational AI platform configuration and administration | • | Prompt engineering, conversational design, and agent orchestration | • | JavaScript, APIs, integrations, and workflow automation | • | Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), knowledge management, and content administration | • | SaaS platform administration, including RBAC, release management, and environment promotion | • | Analytics, conversational optimization, governance, and operational support | • | Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and time management skills | • | Ability to translate business requirements and financial services workflows into conversational workflows | | | |

WORKING CONDITIONS
| Work time includes weekend and after-hours time, based on organizational needs. This position works in-office where working conditions, lighting, temperature, audio, and workspace are all sufficient. |
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
| Work requires the ability to constantly operate a computer and the ability to read, type, and communicate. Work may require the ability to move work-related supplies weighing up to 10-15 pounds. |
